Payment processors we work with in India
Indian retail has the world's richest payment-tender landscape. RetailPOS handles all the major rails — bring whichever you already use.
Frequently asked — India
Why is pricing in USD, with INR shown as approximate?
RetailPOS is invoiced in USD globally. The INR amounts on this page are indicative based on the prevailing exchange rate; at sign-up the system charges in USD against your card or international bank account. For larger operators who need direct INR invoicing via a local entity (with GST input-credit eligibility), Scale tier accommodates this — talk to sales.
Do I need GST e-invoicing integration?
Only if your business turnover crosses the threshold set by GSTN — currently INR 5 crore in any preceding financial year (the threshold has been progressively lowered since 2020). Below that, standard tax invoices suffice. RetailPOS's GST e-invoicing integration via the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) is included on every plan; the activation happens at sign-up when you confirm your turnover tier.
Can I run RetailPOS without GST registration?
Yes. The POS supports non-GST mode (no GST charged on the receipt; no IRP submission); flip to GST-registered mode when turnover crosses INR 20 lakh (services) / 40 lakh (goods) thresholds for mandatory registration, or voluntarily. Same till, same workflow; configuration flag switches the formal compliance on.
UPI — Paytm vs PhonePe vs GPay vs BharatQR. Which one?
All of them, ideally. UPI is the underlying rail; Paytm / PhonePe / GPay are competing wallet apps consumers use to scan and pay. BharatQR is the bank-network QR standard that accepts payments from any UPI app. RetailPOS supports BharatQR (universal) plus direct integration with the major UPI providers for richer per-provider reporting. Merchant fees for UPI are typically zero on transactions below INR 2,000 (a regulatory carve-out); above that, processor pricing kicks in.
What card processors does RetailPOS support in India?
Bank-issued POS terminals from HDFC, ICICI, Axis, SBI, Kotak, Yes Bank — all supported via the alternative-tender pattern. Razorpay POS, Pine Labs, Mswipe also integrate. Stripe operates in India via Stripe India but is less common at independent retail; RetailPOS supports it where available. Bring whichever processor + bank relationship you already use.
How does the free-until-100-sales work in INR?
The 100-sale free tier applies regardless of currency. Once you hit your first 100 paid sales (in any currency), you pick a plan. If you don't pick within 14 days, the tenant goes read-only but your data stays preserved indefinitely.
Do I pay per transaction?
No. The monthly plan is the plan. Payment processing fees go to your chosen processor (HDFC / ICICI / Razorpay / UPI provider) — not to RetailPOS. We charge a flat monthly per shop.
Can I migrate from Tally?
Yes — Tally is the most common migration source for Indian retailers. RetailPOS imports the item master, customer master with outstanding balances, supplier master, and opening stock from a Tally export. Your accountant continues to use Tally for the general-ledger books; RetailPOS becomes the source of truth for retail operations. See the Tally migration field guide for the full playbook.
Can I switch tiers as my shop count grows?
Yes — pro-rated on the next invoice. No long-term contracts on Starter or Pro. Multi-shop expansion (Mumbai to Pune to Bangalore for example) just adds shops to your Pro tier.
Try it on your Mumbai, Delhi, or Bangalore shop.
Free until your first 100 sales. No card. Bring your existing bank-terminal + UPI merchant relationship.
