Milks, shots and syrups: modifiers that bill

For Café owners & managers · 5 min read · Last reviewed 2026-08-04

Modifiers are how a café handles “oat, extra shot, sugar-free vanilla” without a hundred menu buttons. Build a group once, attach it to the drinks it applies to, and price the options that cost you money.

The catalog / items list
Milks, shots and syrups are reusable modifier groups in your catalog.

Build modifier groups

Under Modifiers, create groups like Milk, Shots and Syrups. Each option can be free (whole milk) or add to the price (oat milk, extra shot). Add the group to your drinks — one group serves the whole menu.

Billed modifiers at checkout

When a cashier picks a paid option, its price is added to the line. So an extra shot at 50¢ shows up on the receipt and in your totals — the upsells that used to vanish now get counted.

Note:Pair paid modifiers with recipes: “extra shot” both adds 50¢ and draws an extra dose of beans, so price and stock stay in step.

Frequently asked

Yes. Build "Milk" once and attach it to every drink that takes milk; editing the group updates them all.
Do paid modifiers show on the receipt?
Yes. A priced option adds to the line total and appears on the receipt and in reports.
