Two ways to take money off a sale: a manual discount a cashier applies on the spot, and a promo code you create once and staff (or customers) apply by name.
Manual discounts at checkout
On the checkout screen, apply a percentage or fixed amount to the current sale before taking payment. Good for one-off goodwill or a haggled price.
Create a promo code
- Open Promo codes and create a code.
- Choose percentage-off or a fixed amount.
- Cashiers apply it at checkout by entering the code; the discount stacks onto the order.

- Can a discount exceed the sale total?
- No. Discounts are capped at the subtotal so a sale never goes negative.
